Top 5 Use Cases for MilesTek Adapters

Posted in: Adapters

With so many improvements to electronic connectivity through the years, from audio and video technology to MIL-STD-1553 applications, it’s hard to keep up on them all. Also, it can be expensive to invest and re-invest in components and cables with the latest interfaces. A cost-effective option to large-scale replacement is to keep using the cables and components you have but add adapters to keep your older components working with your newer ones.

MilesTek has a wide variety of adapters to make your life easier. Following is a list of the top five best use cases for our adapters.

Use Case 1: Converting DVI Signals to VGA and HDMI

DVI, or digital visual interface, is a type of video interface technology used to connect digital devices, such as computers and displays, for the purpose of transmitting video signals. DVI is used for such applications as digital signage, high-resolution monitors, flat-panel displays, and digital projection.

When shopping for DVI adapters, you will see three main variants:

·        DVI-A (analog) connectors transmit analog signals only (not digital) and are compatible with VGA (analog) connections.

·        DVI-D (digital) connectors transmit digital signals only (not analog) and are designed for digital displays.

·        DVI-I (integrated) connectors can carry both digital and analog signals, making them versatile for use with both digital and analog displays.

If you have audiovisual components and cables with DVI, HDMI, and/or VGA connections, you can make them compatible with one another in a cost-effective manner. MilesTek has adapters that convert DVI to VGA and DVI to HDMI. Your choices are wide:

·        DVI-A male to VGA (HD15) female

·        DVI-A female to VGA male

·        DVI-D male to DVI-I female

·        DVI-I female to HDMI male

·        DVI-I female to HDMI female

·        DVI-D male to HDMI male

·        DVI-D male to HDMI female

Use Case 2: Connecting Cables Through a Panel or Enclosure

There’s nothing like a panel-mount interface for getting a solid, permanent connection. If you want to run HDMI or DisplayPort cables into a panel or enclosure, we have rugged, panel-mount adapters to help you do the job. They include the following:

·        HDMI female-to-female panel-mount adapters carry both audio and video digital signals and are compact. Also, the female-to-female configuration solves many interconnection problems. Applications for this adapter includes home theater, OEM HDMI designs, pro AV, and digital signage.

·        DisplayPort female-to-female panel-mount adapters make it a snap to connect DisplayPort cables through a panel or enclosure. Applications for this adapter include digital signage, video kiosks, OEM, and pro AV.

Use Case 3: Adding Functionality to TRB Connectors

The TRB connector with its center contact and intermediate cylindrical contact has a bayonet design that locks with either two or three slots and can withstand severe shocks and vibrations. This dependability makes it popular for many types of MIL-STD-1553 connectivity.

MilesTek offers two adapters to add functionality to your TRB connections:

·        TRB-to-TRB barrel feed-through coupling adapters for coupling two cable assemblies and converting three-slot TRB plugs to three-lug TRB jacks.

·        TRB tee adapters for sending two inputs to one output, or one input to two outputs. They are especially useful in lab testing environments.

Use Case 4: Adapting a BNC Connector to Another Type

With their quick and secure locking mechanism, BNC connectors have applications such as:

·        Video Surveillance: Connecting cameras to recording devices or monitors in closed circuit television (CCTV) systems.

·        Aviation and Aerospace: Providing a secure and robust connection for transmitting signals.

·        Broadcasting: Transmitting video and audio signals, and connecting cameras, monitors, and other equipment in television studios.

·        Radio Frequency (RF) Applications: Connecting antennas to radios or other RF devices, and in RF test equipment.

·        Test and Measurement Equipment: Connecting probes and test leads for equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.

·        Scientific Research: Connecting sensors, detectors, and other devices in scientific instruments and laboratory equipment.

MilesTek serves these applications with adapters that convert:

·        BNC to-F-type jacks and plugs for various purposes

·        BNC to RCA jacks for AV applications

·        WECO to BNC and mini-WECO to BNC for digital telco and digital video signal transmission

Use Case 5: Adding Functionality to BNC Connectors

With all of its many applications, the BNC connector is found everywhere. To help you expand your BNC connectivity options, we offer a host of adapters − from bulkhead jacks for running your line into a control panel or enclosure, to right-angle adapters for tight spaces, to signal splitters and combiners. Our BNC-to-BNC adapters include:
