Solid-gauge CAT5E cable may be used, but for optimal performance and distance CAT6 is suggested for this passive device.

Tech Note:  Tested for compatibility with source equipment such as DVD/BlueRay players, computers/laptops, cable/satellite boxes, and AV receivers/signal processors.  However, manufacturer does not suggest use with switches/matrix switches and splitters/amplifiers.

Regarding IR transmitter and receiver cables, it is suggested that source and HDTV/display equipment be powered off before plugging in IR cables. Helps prevent IR cables from being damaged during initial set-up due to possible power surges.

IR Control: 38 kHz frequency is peak strength of IR pass thru signal; band extends from about 34 kHz to 45 kHz. If using specifically with HD cable or satellite box, confirm IR frequency range of equipment to ensure compatibility.
