USB over CAT5E/CAT6 Extenders: A/V Solutions and Beyond

USB ExtendersHere at MilesTek, we love exploring ways to meet our customers’ audio/visual needs. All of our extenders, whether DVI extenders, VGA extenders, HDMI extenders, composite and component extenders, or USB extenders, provide unique audio/visual solutions for our customers, many of which they won’t find anywhere else in the industry.

One thing that is unique about our USB extenders is that their uses extend far beyond the audio and visual. They can be used for any creative scenario involving USB peripherals that are beyond the reach of a normal USB cable, from a keyboard to a mouse to a hard drive to digital audio systems to security and surveillance video. Our USB extenders utilize the affordable empowerment of CAT5E or CAT6 Ethernet cables, similar to all of our extenders.

Much like extension power cables that can be used for powering any out-of-reach object, from a vacuum cleaner to a guitar amp, USB extenders can be used for connecting any out-of-reach USB device. We offer a variety of USB extenders to be used with CAT5E or CAT6 Ethernet cables for any situation where a USB peripheral is distant from a computer (at a much lower price than rigid and expensive USB cables).

How Do The Extenders Work?

With a USB extender, you can use a regular CAT5E or CAT6 Ethernet cable to connect any USB device to a computer, anywhere from 50 feet away to 330 feet away, depending on which extender you choose. All of our USB extenders have built-in buffers and actively regenerate signals to ensure that all of your data comes through crystal clear with full integrity, even over long distances.

For example, if you set up a USB video camera in a different room, 150 feet away from your computer, the video signal will come in perfectly clear due to the quality of our USB extenders. So will the signal from any other type of USB device.

Which Should I Choose?

Each of our USB over CAT5E/6 extenders boast valuable features, but the most significant factors to consider when deciding which USB extender is right for you are (1) how much extension length you want, (2) the number or USB ports you want, and (3) whether you want a plastic case or a wall plate. We offer these styles of USB extenders:
